Smarter Waste Monitoring for Construction and Demolition Sites

Construction and demolition sites produce large amounts of waste every day. Without the right visibility, recycling centres and waste operators often face the same problems: overflowing containers, hidden contamination, missing bins, and unexpected fines. To solve this, we created SmartEnds VisnLine, a smart camera system that gives teams a clear view of what is happening on-site. VisnLine monitors skips in real time, spots contamination early, and helps plan collections only when they are needed. This means fewer wasted trips and better control over site operations. VisnLine is already being used on active construction sites, helping operators improve recycling rates and reduce costs. Seeing Through Glass: How SmartEnds VisnLine Helps Keep Glass Recycling Clean

Glass is one of the most valuable materials we recycle, but it’s also one of the most sensitive. A single wrong item, a bit of plastic, a metal lid, or a piece of ceramic, can contaminate an entire load. For recycling companies, that often means rejected batches, damaged equipment, and wasted effort. At SmartEnds, we’ve developed VisnLine, an intelligent camera system that helps waste collection companies and glass recyclers tackle this problem before it starts. By identifying contamination early, VisnLine keeps glass streams clean and helps the recycling process run smoothly from the collection point right through to the factory. Why Glass Recycling Needs Special Care Glass can be recycled endlessly, but only if it’s pure. Contaminants such as stones, ceramics, or plastics can lower the quality of recycled glass and even damage machinery used to crush or melt it. Once a contaminated load reaches a processing plant, it’s often too late to recover, resulting in rejections, downtime, and extra costs. That’s why prevention at the collection stage is crucial. Spotting a problem before the material moves downstream saves both time and money and that’s exactly what VisnLine does. Seeing What Others Miss Mounted on glass collection containers, SmartEnds VisnLine cameras continuously analyse what goes into the bin. Using advanced AI image recognition, the system can distinguish between real glass and unwanted materials such as plastics, metals, or ceramics. If contamination is detected, an alert is sent to the waste operator or recycling company. They can then take immediate action, such as isolating the container or scheduling a targeted collection, before the material reaches the recycling plant. The result is simple but powerful: cleaner loads and fewer surprises at the processing line. A Win for Recyclers and Glass Manufacturers For material recovery facilities and glass factories, the benefits are clear: Higher purity feedstock – less sorting and fewer rejections on arrival. Reduced wear and downtime – preventing abrasive contaminants from damaging crushers and conveyors. Improved recycling yields – cleaner cullet that commands a better market price and supports closed-loop manufacturing. By improving visibility at the point of collection, VisnLine gives recyclers and glass manufacturers confidence in the quality of their material from the start. Where VisnLine Makes a Difference VisnLine is already being used at public glass drop-off sites and commercial collection points, giving waste management teams live insight into how bins are being used. It supports waste collection companies in optimising their routes, avoiding contaminated pickups, and improving service quality. For glass recyclers and factories, it means receiving cleaner, more consistent material reducing downtime and boosting overall recycling efficiency. Towards a Smarter Glass Recycling Future Every tonne of clean glass recycled is a step towards lower emissions, less landfill, and a stronger circular economy. By helping recyclers and waste companies detect contamination early, SmartEnds VisnLine makes that step easier, safer, and more efficient. It’s a simple idea, executed with smart technology: see what’s really inside, act sooner, and keep glass recycling as clean as it should be.

“Beide culturen helpen me in mijn ondernemerschap.
